Strube - The Point

The UK operation of German sugar beet seed breeder Strube have engaged The Point to undertake the marketing of their varieties into the UK market. The Point will be responsible for developing both corporate and varietal campaigns in 2018 to promote Strube’s excellent seed to British growers. Richard Powell, who runs Strube’s operation in the UK, commented that “The Point combine creativity together with a thorough knowledge of the market and I am very much looking forward to working with them this year”.

Now in its fifth generation, Strube is a family-owned, independent, plant breeding company, which has been specialising in the breeding and production of new varieties of sugar beet for 140 years. From its headquarters in Söllingen, Germany, Strube supports and markets 180 crop varieties in 35 countries, including sugar beet, wheat, sunflowers, peas and sweet corn.

Strube’s continuous programme of research, development and trials enables them to breed ever better varieties for British farmers that consistently deliver profitability through high yields and greater sugar content. In 2017 the UK market was worth £14 million and Strube supplied over 30% of what was a record breaking British crop with outstanding varieties that included Haydn and Pasteur.
